Are you implying we don't have the assets to acquire another first? Not sure we could get one for Freddie, maybe, but certainly have a forward or 2 that could fetch a first + if KD has the appetite to free up CAP space in that manner. AJ and Kerfoot are not going to get us much in the way of high picks.
I still think Carolina is an intriguing trade partner both for Fred and a forward

Why Holl of course... I’ve been told he’s top four And Fine against good competition...
Josh and 27 for 15 ?? |

Andersen - winsix
someone might, but with the amount of available UFA goalies will be a small pool IMO. I'd love to see it |

The Athletic went through the West D trade candidates, they went through the whole conference and they came up with only Parayko, Brodin, Manson and Larsson as fits.
Parayko would cost a lot...Brodin is legit available so the cost would be reasonable but would have to be prepared to give him 6-6.5M next season.
Manson....Doubt it.
Larsson is affordable but he is a number 4 D man...Could do better. |

I want a 3rd line forward with a good cap hit for Fred |

Do you have a few names? Can KD not get that in UFA?

He could get some for a fair price.
But if he wants a young controllable asset there, Fred could get it.
Bennet, Trocheck, Marcus Foligno(best fit)
In the FA
Namestikov, Fast, Thornton, Haula |

Agree on Carolina, there are other teams, Oilers, Flames and Islanders to name a few. Trading Freddie for for a crap draft pick after Habs paid a third for a backup goalie on a bad deal is ridiculous

Agree with Foligno, love Bennet too but worry about his injuries. We could use a couple of these guys to be honest.
Wondering if they are serious about moving Fred, do they draft the goalie in the first round with the 15th

Guess the trade partner if moving on from Fred depends on what KD wants. Is he looking for Cap space, or looking for player assets. Doubt Canes move 13 alone for Fred, be nice. I think a bigger deal is available with the Canes.
Flames and Oilers are in need of goaltending, don't know if Lou would deal with KD? |

Freddy for Foligno and a pick is fair.
I think they are. This is a good year to swap goaltenders and it would be great to know our goalies cap hit going into next season. |

The Wild is a nice spot to deal him to.
In the West and have some decent contracts to trade. |

Askarov will be gone by pick #15 IMO. So the next goalie is expeted to go in round 3
(Jan Bednar). Georgiev is low hanging fruit, after the Leafs trade Andersen, they should get Georgiev. Unless Lundqvist retires, Rangers will probably move Georgiev. |
